Wedge: "I get no reading. You sure?"
Lando: "Pull up! All craft pull up!"
Ackbar: "Take evasive action. Green Group stick close to Holding Sector MV-7"
Officer: "Admiral, we have enemy ships in sector 47."

Ackbar: "IT'S A TRAP"

Gandalf: He's suffered a defeat, yes, but... behind the walls of Mordor, our enemy is regrouping.
Gimli: Let him stay there. *Let him rot!* Why should we care?
Gandalf: Because ten-thousand Orcs now stand between Frodo and Mount Doom. I've sent him to his death.
Aragorn: No. There is still hope for Frodo. He needs time... and safe passage across the plains of Gorgoroth. We can give him that.
Gimli: How?
Aragorn: Draw out Sauron's armies. Empty his lands. Then we gather our full strength and march on the Black Gate.
Eomer: We cannot achieve victory through strength of arms.
Aragorn: Not for ourselves. But we can give Frodo his chance if we keep Sauron's Eye fixed upon us. Keep him blind to all else that moves.
Legolas: A diversion!

i just found the incredible similarity in these two things.
1. both films are named "The Return of" something
2. Introduction to the final battle
3. After the long long explanation of whats going on, there is this smart guy who has to sum up what all know, as if he just found out...

but who of the both is even more ridiculous?

And does anyone of you know further examples like these in the world of fantasy and scifi?

Well its kinda the opposite actually. Ackbar has realisation of a trap against his own forces and takes the defensive, Legolas acknowlages that they are going to trap Sauron's forces in an offensive (well kind of a trap anyways).

I dont quite understand what your looking for, are you just looking to pin point films where people state the blantanly obvious?

Just consider, if Akbar and Legolas had no made those statements, would the same effect and realisation be provided for the viewer? Despite stating the obvious, both statements make the whole thing much more dramatic.

its not about offensive/defensive...

its about hos SLOW they both are...
everony figured that they have run into a trap, when lando figured they have been waited for...
and everyone figured that they set a trap for sauron when they want to draw out orcs from order for frodo...

so its the statement of the blantanly obvious, yea. but the strategical brilliancy in recognizing traps is comparable for both... ^^

well... first watching the movie it doesnt disturb anyone... but second time watching lotr i already had to laugh at that point.
and for sw i have to admit i even laughed first time watching it... but i was so young, and the german synchro for ackbar is funny anyway... and i was happy for every word he spoke... it took me way too long to even realize what he says xP

but anyway: who did u pick? ^^
