So how can it be done or is it too complicated?

This question was asked a million times. It is not possible, no.
Still: If you have a decent insight into modding/skinning you will know which parts of a model/skin you can move from jk3 to jk2 and which not.
But there is no jk3 --> jk2 converter. So as long as you are no pro in this, you won't be able to tell if a certain skin or model is compatible or not. But even if you would be a pro, you can't convert, what is impossible to convert.
Take it a no. Wink

The model.glm in JK3 uses a different bone structure to JK2, so if you put one into jk2 the guy is flapping about upside down and looking hyper.

You would have to make a new model.glm that is the same size and shape as the JK3 one but with a jk2 styled bone structure, however, modelling is a difficult thing and is different to skinning which uses already made model.glm 's and just modifies the way they look.

It's possible. But unless you have the original model files then it is a very long and tedious process on converting the model to jk2.

@Reaver that doesn't make any sense, we all have access to the jk3 model files, but it is impossible to convert it , it's very foundation of the model that is the problem. So you have to start from the ground up I'm afraid.

So far if you replace the JK2 Kyle with a Noghri from JK3 it would become a stormtrooper instead. The model wont have any flappy arms. Replacement don't screws up the game, its just the bone structures that are becoming a mess. Either way, you'd have to edit the bone structures itself in a modeling program and make it fit into JK2 to avoid the "flappy" arms.

I've tried adding in models like the cultists and everything is fine apart from the model structure,

Yeah boogieman hit it. It pretty much just requires a load of work from a 3D modelling program. I would try Milkshape but that costs money.

I remember I got a premium pirated version of it in the past but it was way too difficult to use.

Or you have to photoshop JK3 clothing textures (torso, legs, face, misc) to JK2 by simply cutting parts and putting it on your JK2 skin. Yeah I know, it's sometimes a complicated process if you for example wants to edit a kyle or a alien skin and make it look like a sith with heavy armour.

@Boog, the skin would overall look a little weird though as parts of the textures are supposed to go over lumps and shapes on the body, that would be different on different models.

Sorta but sometimes it turns out to be successful. But let's say the odds is 5 out of 10 to result in a success.
