discussion about the "SoL" system

Just curious, how long did it take to develop this system after the ATS split?

You mean the topic? Just look at the old topic, when it was released.
The system itself was set up within a msn meeting. That meeting took 2-3 hours. I guess, not all people stayed from beginning to end. But the initial system, we used for quite a while then, was done. But there are countless little changes and expansions to it, we couldn't foresee. Especially questions of executing the theory occupied us for long. So your question is hard to answer. I guess with making rules for executing the theory (after many unforeseeable cases needed many decisions about it), but also with adding more entertaining stuff like TT, medals and awards etc, the System became in need of an explanation. That's when the system topic was made up...
The development of the system from that status to what it is now took many steps either. It still happened under Kernow's influence to lower the Council members from 7 to 5. But the most changes (New election system, more flexibility, council suspension) have been done in late-mid 2013.

Yes actually! Haha, I tried to develop a system similar to that in AoF, but I had much difficulties when it came to ranks and power structure. It really gives me much respect for the SoL system and what has been accomplished. Granted, sometimes it isn't perfect, but it is a great system and I think it is the most thought through clan structure in the history of jk2.


Heres one more question, are we bringing the medals back anytime soon? They were a great motivational tool as well as encouraged more activity.

The only reason they have been falling apart is the laziness/ignorance/timidity of the members. Since the Council is suspended, any member can fulfill the duties the Council was fulfilling before. So just someone has to step up and open a poll. I actually explained this part in the SoL System. ^^
The only hot question here is the participation of the recruits. Recruits have always been invited to participate at discussions. But the Council work is transferred to members, and not to recruits. This is kind of contradictionary. We don't have that much recruits, but I don't wanna keep them out of the discussions. I guess we will just see what happens, without making a rule for it. If there is input from recruits, then we'll see. If it's good, fine, if not... well... then maybe we'll see it on that recruit's poll. Idk... I just can't tell.

Wow Xaso, actually just read this for the first time, that's some devotion!

I think its good for recruits to at least view the council and member discussion like they do now, so they are better adjusted and better suited to the tasks they will do when they become full members. Which really isn't that hard, you just have to voice an opinion or right a wrong!
