| And there goes the HDD of my PC yet again. fml
This time it won't boot Windows. It goes past the BIOS screen and allows me to enter setup mode and such, but when it comes to load the Windows 7 logo it just gives me a black screen and freezes my PC.
But this time, i'm gonna buy a new HDD. I did a backup on my external but the damn CHKDSK formatted the thing so i lost it. Was too lazy to redo a backup. So unless I find a temporarily fix, i'm stuck with my laptop. I'll be as active as I can with my 30-40 fps in JK2. I'll probably spend most of the time on the forums.
Any help or advice is always appreciated. | |

| I had a problem like that, not exactly the same i think. When i started my pc the windows logo didnt appear, just black screen, and the cpu was running fine. It was the mother board. | |

| There's nothing wrong with my motherboard, i'm positive about that. My HDD makes clicking noises and it warns me about failure and to backup my files. I'll just buy a new one i guess. D: | |

| It doesn't make clicking noises that loud. It's more like scratching noises, not loud. | |

| Scratching may mean that the reading head is too low and is touching the hdd. Probably your laptop received a hit in the past and it nudged the head and/or scratched the hdd so every time it runs thru the scratch it makes that noise....my two cents | |

| if your smart status of the HDD says its failing, you better make sure you have backups because its definitely damaged then. I have the same ATM with a netbook hdd i jammed into my machine a long time ago which received a severe fall with netbook and all. by the time your bios complains about the HDD smart status it is unavoidable failure about to happen. it might be tomorrow, next month or even next year, it depends on how damaged and how intense the HDD is used.
any HDD making a suspicious weird sound is trouble about to happen.

| I'll just go get a new HDD then, and a SATA to USB cable to see if I can save any of the data from it. :S | |
