I'm guessing the father was growing irritated of his son (don't be offended if I say it please people) being "Americanized" (I don't know if that is the right word) and slowly becoming more and more lazy, and losing family customs. And eventually because of this the son leaves and has an accident in which his leg's are broke and the father starts to pity him (right?) and they work together and rebuild their trust as the father helps his son walk and find it okay to eat again (as the son didn't want to see or have contact with food after what happened), after all this the son picks up on family values again (I think) and the family becomes functional and a family again.
I'm guessing the father was tired of the way his son was acting and wanted to voice his discontent which was growing more and more each passing day to the point he bursted from holding all of it in. I think this video illustrates what happens if you do not voice your displeasures early. The second half is the anger from both parties if the issue is not addressed quickly. The last part is the amount of work it takes to rebuild the lost trust. Those are my thoughts.
