 New maps added to the server!

First topic message reminder :

I added some new ffa and ctf maps that Joe asked me to add to the server. I will try to move the download links to the "Maps Download" section when I have time. For now the link to those who want to download it, will be here: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

For DC and HC admins, the names for executing each of this maps are:

FFA:

chicagostreets_jo
dexstersdiner
ffa_jabbabarge
jabba
little_italy
oldwest_v2

CTF:

ctf_bespin2 (I also made the cfg for ctf_bespin2_0regen and ctf_bespin2_guns)
ctf_bespinfort (you can also try it with 0 regen and guns as well)
ctf_canyon (you can also try it with 0 regen and guns as well)
ctf_palace (you can also try it with 0 regen and guns as well)

Ok Kam, I will pass you the oldwest_v2 original map by email and will tell you the changes that was made in the modified version, so that you can modify it correctly. I will tell you another thing though just in case there, so there won't be any more problems. I did modify the name of another map which is the yavin_bespin map. The original WinRAR file name IS yavin_bespin and most of the files INSIDE are called the same (even the page from where I download it, had the same name for the map); only the main file of the map had the same name of the default map of bespin (ffa_bespin), so i had to changed it so there wouldn't be any problems when executing the default map with the same name in the server. I presumed that the creator of the map omited to change the name of it to execute it with the name of yavin_bespin. If you have anyway to solve this case as well, that would be awesome. So I will sent you both original maps. Thanks in advance for your help!

Alright, allow me to correct myself. If you wanted to use game already present in their base folder, e.g. basejk music, then they wouldn't need to download anything. However, I did come up with a solution that works, although it does require downloading something, without downloading the changed version of the map.

In your mod directory, make a folder called "maps", and put the oldwest_v2.bsp inside of it. Do not put the modified version of the map inside of a PK3 file. Then you take the solwestMusic.pk3 and put inside of your mod directory as well (Works in the base folder too, but it is recommended to keep "SoL-Server-Only" stuff in the mod directory). This pk3 only contains the music you wanted to play instead of the original, which the modified oldwest_v2.bsp has been set to use. This way people will still hear the original music when playing on other servers, but will hear your custom music when playing on SoL, if they have the solwestMusic pk3 Smile

As for the yavin_bespin map. The reason why it doesn't change to that map when you try to execute it is because it is not a seperate map in it of itself. It is a Bespin clientside, just like the CA Bespin is, and is just a clientside replacement for Bespin. I'd rather recommend you put up the link to where you found the map, as well as a few screenshots of it, and then recommend whoever would like their Bespin to look like that to download it. Making it a seperate map would end up in the "modifying and distributing a new version of the map without permission of the author" area, so that is something I do not want to do.

Thanks Kam! I have already put the original map of "oldwest_v2" in the server and removed the modified ones (yavin_bespin and oldwest_v2_1). I will leave the decision of downloading the yavin_bespin original map to people as you suggested. I have left to update the download link. But there is something i don't know if i understand it well. People will have to be able to download both files (oldwest_v2.bsp and solwestMusic.pk3) and follow the steps your described to hear the music we want in SoL server, right? Or when you meant putting both in dcmod directory, you mean not in our individual mod directorys, but in our server mod directory, and so that just people will have to download only solwestMusic.pk3? I hope you understand what i am trying to ask Razz

I'm getting this error after execing chicagostreets_jo map, and now I can't come back. Why..?

Now that you mention I recall Shadow and Alpf did have the same problem. Joe and I who have downloaded the map, didn't have any problem. I guess maybe there might be some error with the JK2MV mod to download the map automatically, but i might be wrong. I have put back yavin_temple again in SoL server.

Please report this on the JK2MV section of jk2.info Smile Happened to me as well on my own server, and I am not quite sure why :/

Until then I can recommend you (As clients, not the server, as using this pk3 won't fix the issue) to download the map from MrWonko's jk2files backup site:

It is probably just the space in the name of the PK3 file on the server causing the issue. Remove the space and the issue should be solved.

I think that's it, the file is named Chicago Streets.pk3 inside the dropbox link. I guess it is confusing JK2MV.

Daggolin explained on your support topic that they kept the "no spaces" rule for legacy purposes, as that is how it was handled in the JK2MP 2kb/s download system, to be compatible with players who might still use that exe. So it isn't because it's "confusing JK2MV".
