So has everybody just stopped playing jk2 now? In the last 3 days ive seen 3 members of SoL, and i've been off and on the server pretty regularly. The server is completely dead 80% of the time that ive looked, and that 20% that there are people on, you can usually count the number of players with one hand. The most ive seen on at any one time is 6 players, and that was short lived, what on earths going? Its frankly a waste of money paying for the server if nobody plays the game anymore. I was thinking this might be because im in Australia, i could be playing in off-peak hours, but to be honest every time ive checked the jedi tracker, the server looks abandoned. The forum activity is the least ive seen since SoL was founded, are we all throwing in the towel or what? Maybe its time we all moved on...

Its the same story every term mate, and my past suggestions and proposals for more admins to be appointed has continuously fallen on deaf ears. I managed to once persuade the rest of the council, to make a couple more admin slots availble, and for that term it was granted, because back then I was on the council, and very active too, which made my powers of reasoning much more effective and understood, but that term has long gone now, I think there have been two terms since then. The legislation says only the council can control/propose additional admins after the mandatory ones have been appointed, it means we would have to suggest additional admins all over again, if we wanted more admins, as the ones from pervious terms are demoted back to normal members on commencement of the next term. I always suggested that the mandatory admin positions be increased in number, especially the DC ones, because once the term gets underway we start running lean on admins activity, but it appears some council and admins had a phobia against appointing additional admins. Ive got to admin, sometimes I even think SoL doesnt devide its power very well, seems those with power fear letting others wield it, or that there is an irrational fear that other members couldnt handle that responsibilty without conflicting with each other.

For an example of how well the server is administrated, lets ask these few simple questions. When was the last time the server was on Bespin Streets? When was the last time we went to Forest House, or Expedition? When was the last time an admin organised a game of CTF or TFFA? When was the last time an admin organised a game of TERM wars?

I have no idea, but my guess is, a long time ago. I would love to be answered and proven wrong though....

(Oh and there are no excuses, all admins know the proceedure, if you are inactive, going to be inactive, or simply limiting your hours of play (Which is fine! We all need to live our lives!), then you know that its up to YOU, to inform others so that the clan can take measures, and ultimately appoint an additional admin (s), to counter the issue, and lessen the workload. Again I see a downward spiral of organisation and commitment, which I have to say, has been looking somewhat increasingly apparent, since I left the game all those months ago. Disappointing.)

Yes snake, you are an exception in this.

People should be checking the forums everyday (even if only for 5 mins just to check topics, c'mon its not hard!), in case there are occurences that require attention, also the SoL officials should be keeping on top of the workload, and following the SoL legislation. Not to do so is negligence, particularly if the problems could be solved by appointing backup personell in your stead.

Just to verify my point.

Kira - Forum moderator - last forum visit almost two weeks ago.

Lord Draco - Forum Moderator - Left the clan, has not been removed from the admin list, nor has he been replaced.

Proballboy -Forum Moderator - Has not visited the forum for 3 months, hasnt not been replaced, and still remains on the admin list.

Ichigo & Boogieman - Last forum visit several days ago.

Council - Only has 6 members, according to legislation the council should have 7 members.

phoe, we just miss ppl that take the things into their hands, instead of expecting others to do it. as i am very busy i do the very basic stuff i have to do, to keep things running. but the members need to do the rest. its not like 1 person has to do everything, but something that seems important to him.
no one wants to be moderator it seems, nor hc. otherwise we would have a topic for replacement.
funnily member ask that forum admins update the member list, but they are too lazy to reply to kernow, which are the things tha have to be updated... it would be so easy to make a change.

To be fair, the server was ranked at 17-20 the last couple weeks. This week and the next couple weeks are finals for students, and I know it has impacted my activity in the games I usually play. People will further be busy around the holidays and the next elections are around the corner. It all spells.. apathy! Razz

Hold off on the doomsaying until it's been a pattern for months at a time. Even then, I'm sure Xaso can take to the streets begging for money to pay for his clan's unused game server. He always seems to pull through. Wink

Indeed one person should not have to everything, precisely why we need plenty of active admins/moderators/council members, and why they need to be elected into action promptly. Im not having a go at anybody in particular, this is a fail of organisation and commitment from SoL as a whole, everybody is responsible for it even me, because we could have all done more, which is actually a way bigger concern than just one person not contributing, because the simple fact is that the drive and enthuisiasm has left the clan, and been replaced with lack of motivation, thus leaving outstanding work that nobody can be bothered to tackle. These issues, some that i've mentioned in my previous post, would never have happened a year or two ago, because everybody was on top of things back then, and had dedication to see the changes done. Once everybody stops giving a damn, then how long until the collapse of the clan.

As per Nicks post, im going to say no more about a SoL doomsday, I dont want to raise alarm or controvosy here. But at the very least people should view this topic and bare it in mind as a warning of the future if we dont get our acts together, because nobody is going to want to pay for a server if it isnt been used, and i remember that last time around, Nick had a real struggle collecting money for the server.

SoL's system relies on team commitment and activity, since the beginning commoner electees show a familiar trait of little commitment to their duty. Despite this the people who are commited to the clan constantly keep the wheels greased, despite our increasingly busy working lives.

Proposals to change the game, make more admins, increase server/forum attraction and so on is rather fruitless. The fact is, that the people who keep the clan alive are getting to old and busy to constantly polish and push the clan to greater heights. We can't always be active, and we can't always supervise everyone.

Parents can only be parents for so long, at some point the kids have to grow up and manage things themselves. This doesn't happen here ^_^

I've maintained council discussion for the last five months, considering that work takes up 12 hours of my 'day', I think that's alright commitment.

We all will move on in real life and one way or another will be unable to maintain the clan on both here and the server. We look for others to take the driver's seat as we have, and run the clan as we have. As is obvious, there isn't yet anyone to take the mantle of responsibility.

Other factors are affecting us - The Old Republic may be the last blow to send JK2 to the depths of Star Wars gaming.

This said, we hold firm, the guys with the true SoL spirit will keep the wheels spinning. People like you, Phoenix. Even if people aren't able to help, they won't abandon.

Nobody would question your contribution and dedication to the clan Kernow, same goes for xaso, Nick, and a select few others, its just a shame that we dont have any other members willing or able to step up to the helm in your stead.

It's immersive world which gets you into medieval epoch. You can choose to play any race : elves - dwarves - humans - hobbits, and classes depending your race, which have been inspired by the lotr characters like aragorn, legolas, gandalf, gimli, and many others. Like any mmorpg, each class has abilities to play alone, but is more usefull in communities ( group of fighters ), which lets you play fully the role of your class.

Lotro is much developped into a community game, like most quests need to be completed with a community ( inspired by lotr ), as well as the crafting, which is really much developped and very intersting. There are many different crafting classes, which have varied skills, so it needs you to share materials with others from other classes.

The possibility to create guilds is present like in every game, but it's very important to get more deeply into the game, like for community quests and craft tradding.

About the world, the countries are really beautifull and big, the quests make you have to travel the worlds everywhere, and the musics are wonderfull, and medieval as well as all the rest, making you feel in 1200 after JC.

And also, the game is really down to earth, you don't get invaded by all the mystical characters, magic and etc. You play with wood, metal, swords, bows, etc ... I like much this part of the game.

If you are fan of lotr, the epic quest follows the lotr story, but not only the movie part, also everything turning around, about dwarves and elves, about the demoniac forces into Angmar land, and you can go all over the "real" lotr lands : travel shore, humans land through bree, go up to fondcombe, fight trolls in the trollshaw, you can even see the rock ones which have almost eat poor bilbo lmao, you meet elrond, and later you'll be able to fight balrog, sarouman, and ride aside theoden in rohan's land ... and etc etc ...

And i missed many things, but if you wanna know more : http://www.lotro.com/free.php
feel free to try it, it's F2P, you have some restrictions on the gameplay, but the game itself isn't limited, you can go everywhere, and do all quests without paying ( there's just a little coins system which makes you getting coins while completing quests and tasks, and after you can trade those coins to unlock quests in the other lands ).
