AFK for a bit

I got grounded by my mum because she caught me smoking.. Scorch was too but I didn't tell him. Just to let you know: I won't be on the computer for a bit (i don't know how long i'm grounded for) but I will come straight back on the second my mum says 'You are ungrounded' to the best ATS server in the world and be here =)

Ive smoked for nearly 4 and half years now, its quite a shame because growing up everybody told me never to smoke and they were right. Problem is that once you start it is difficult to quit, you start having cravings or fancies for a fag.

I started at about 17 because i was going to college and people used to smoke quite alot of weed on breaktimes and stuff, so i kinda joined in with that. At the same time my mates at home would smoke weed too so i guess at one point i was smoking quite a bit of it. (although im tight so i rarely bought any XD)

But it was at that point when i started smoking fags too. Because it was about that time when i started going out drinking round town with my mates (albeit underage). So at first i would get a fag offered to me in the pub, then i would buy my own to go with, then if i had any left over i smoke them then next day, then i would buy a box during the week too.

Then hey presto! Before you know it im a full fledged smoker! Its going out drinking that makes my want to smoke because i choke for fag when ive had a drink. I can go through a full box of 20 on a night out, though usually during the week i only smoke 5-6 a day (not heavy during the week).

Anyways i'd love to quit cos they do nobody any good that cannot be denied, but i cant be bothered to go and buy patches and stuff, i can go cold turkey but i would be not drinking at all for ages bacause i cant hold off the need for a smoke once ive had a few beers!

My family hate me smoking espcially my dad and my grandma, they always give me grief, plus it make your chlothes skink, so yeah its disguting really. AND NOT TO MENTION ITS A BLOODY WASTE OF MONEY!

i woulnd even say i enjoy it in all honestly, i would say the only reason i think i enjoy it, is because my body tells me i need nicotine, so after a smoke i feel repleshed and fulfiled but that its not true enjoyment. Its only telling my body that i will be disapointed if i dont have one!

There was once a book written by a guy who smoked for something like 50 years, he eventually quit but still died of lung cancer (poor guy). Before he died he wrote is book with the best example of the flaws of smoking i have ever heard, he wrote:

"in life, non-smokers are indifferent and constantly feel the same pleasure from life, they have no notion of an addiction requires and the happiness it can revoke."

"A non-smoke constantly feels phisically at one with his life, he feels fulfilled and content, however a non smoker must have a cigarette to feel the same pleasure. WHEN SOMEBODY ADDICTED TO SMOKING HAS A CIGARETTE, THEY ONLY FEEL THE SAME ABOUNT OF PLEASURE AS A NON-SMOKER FEELS ALL THE TIME. THEY DONT NEED TO SMOKE TO FEEL GOOD, THEY NEED TO SMOKE TO FEEL NORMAL!"

This i think is the truest statement ive ever heard about smoking. I going to try quit soon because ive had enough of it. I havent had weed for years now but the fags i still have, ive even done worst stuff than weed but im not proud of that. At least because i havent led a sheltered life, i can say im streetwise now because of it.

@ Gavin, u decision is your own, but my advice, dont do it mate, one day u will regret it. Im 21 and i regret starting. If i could go back 5 years i wouldnt touch one!
