Sol Clan Map

Hey guys, i downloaded the map and everything and i couldn't get in, it gives me a error every time i try to join it

i open the file with winrar, all i get are 4 folders, none of them contain a .pk3 file? i dont get it

anyone have a link for the pk3 only?

yeah i just have the .bsp file, where is the pk3 :[

no idea . just seems like we the only ones havin this problem though. everyone else is playin

yea umm i try to download it and open it but it says it's corrupt?? which means either some1 messed it up or a newer file has been out and or idk >>>>>>> ! depends on the stuff

like said xasomur, it's already a pk3, not a zip, so you have nothing to unzip, you jsut put directly the file you've downloaded in base folder.

that must be because of your comp of browser purp. when me i dl it from the forum, i get a pk3.

Is it actually a ZIP file, or is the icon just Winzip? Right click the file and choose Properties, and on the General tab look at what the File Type says.

Your browser is messed up if it's turning a PK3 file into a ZIP file, that's just silly. If you're using Internet Explorer or something, try switching to Firefox or Google Chrome.

You could also manually change it into a PK3 file by simply changing the extension, but to do that you must have extensions for known file types visible, which is found in Control Panel -> Folder Options -> View tab -> Hide extensions for known file types (you should uncheck it). Then you just go back to the file, delete the .zip and add .pk3

LoL all I did was rename the end bit to .pk3 and it worked

edit : it was that hidden file extension thing.. thanx for the help nick.. and all.. cyas in game.. stupid ie 8

I use IE 8 and I had no problems.

i tried redownloading it, and changing the extension, and still nothing has happened im really annoyed about that , im so excited to see this map and it wont take it when i put it from a zip file and extract it in the base folder of jk2

You should not be extracting it. It is already a PK3 file. PK3 files are just archive (ZIP) files with a different extension. If your browser is downloading it AS a ZIP file, you just have to change the type, but you should NOT extract it. As others have suggested, try using a different browser if you cannot convert the extension to a PK3.

Another way to convert the extension if you could not follow the Folder Options explanation:

Put the solclanmap.zip file on your Desktop.
Press: <code>[Windows Key] + R</code>    (or you can go to Start Menu -> Run if it's available)
A "Run" dialogue box should appear.
Type <code>cmd</code> and press <code>Enter</code>.
A command prompt should appear.
Use these commands:
<code>
cd desktop
rename solclanmap.zip solclanmap.pk3
</code>
If it was successful, it will not say anything.
If it was NOT successful, it will say it could not find the specified file, which means it's not actually a ZIP file.

Then try this command:
<code>
dir solclanmap.pk3
</code>

If the file shows up, then it is indeed a PK3 file.

Type <code>exit</code> in the command prompt to close it. You can now move the solclanmap.pk3 file to your \base directory.

tks nick, that finally figured my issue... Im just so used to extracting zip files, so that is why i got confused at it
