- For any who don't know how to install this, here's one way:
- Using another PC that is working, go into Internet Explorer, Tools, Options, Content tab, Certificates button. - Go to the Trusted Root Certification Authorities tab - Find the GTE certificate in the list. Click to highlight it. - Click Export, Next, proceed through accepting the defaults. Give the certificate a name, such as "GTE". - Export the certificate to your Desktop or some other handy place. - When done the export, copy the certificate you just exported to the computer with the 80072f8f error. You can do this via a network, USB drive, etc.
On the malfunctioning PC: - Go into Internet Explorer, Tools, Options, Content tab, Certificates button. - Go to the Trusted Root Certification Authorities tab - Click Import - Click Next, then browse to the location of the certificate you saved. - Select the certificate, proceed through the import, accepting the defaults. - If you get a pop up box asking if you want to import the cert into the Trusted Root Authority, say Yes. i got this off the forums for microsoft's support team | |

| sind, download the iso of ver. 4 and burn a copy of memtest. go into bios and set ur boot so you boot from cd 1st not hard drive. boot to the iso. run it and let it do like 3 or 4 passes, it takes a while so you might wanna run it overnight. the error you have above may be from corruption in your registry so lets check your ram 1st.

| acronis home edition is a great program to backup your machine sind. i use it on all my windows machines. when i put in new hard drives i always make sure i have a verified backup. also, when i build new machines i test the ram with the above mentioned program to make sure i don't get a single error. i'm usually doing a slight overclock on my ram and lots of times i have to bump up voltage to get it running perfect. there is always chance of defective hardware though too. good luck and if u need anything let me know.

| I could most likely fix your boot problem Sind if I had access to your computer. Obviously I don't though. | |

| a restore might fix his prob nicke.... would take him back to an earlier snapshot of registry. i get feeling he made some hardware changes and there may be other issues. he didn't elaborate. if he can't get into windows you're not going to be able to help him remotely. if he could you could have him put on free version of logmein and get on his machine.

| ahhh so many times this has happend to me in Windows Vista its not just windows 7
i had this problem before try thease this is what i did before and it worked with great sucess.
Re. Good Luck
Try this:
Your computer's date and time could be out of sync
with an update certificate.
To fix this:
1. In Control Panel, open Date and Time Properties.
2. Ensure that the date and time are correct.
