| Well hello there ladies and gentlemen. I thought I would bring an intresting update in my real life status, cos i know you all miss me haha. Im leaving for Australia on September 1st. I'll be spending at least a year there, possibly 2, living and working over there. Im so looking forward to it, at one point I actually resigned myself to the fact that I was never going to get there, but thanks to my dad and my gran, its been made possible. I cant wait, im going to be living the dream! Lots of sun, sea, drinking, and chasing hot tottie around. Hopefully maybe, a long time from now, if SoL is still around, I can come back and play JK2 again. This is the oppertunity of a lifetime for me. Just want to finish my wishing you all the very best, and I'll catch you guys later. Phoenix is going down under! | |

| Yes, thats a Sydney Funnel Web spider, hugely aggressive, and the most toxic spider in the world to humans, even more poisionous than the Wandering Spider, and much smaller, which makes it more deadly because its harder to see. It will defend itself vigorously if it feels threatened. Its fangs are over 1/4 inch long, and so big that in order to walk, it has to tuck them under its body. Its quite uncommon, because it only appears in summer months when its required to mate, but when spotted, its ill advised that you approch it and instead, contact the authorities. When it attacks or defends, its rears up in the air and points its fang as high as it can, thats why everybody is warned not to try and stamp on the spider, as its fangs are so sharp it can pierce everything from shoes/trainers, to fingernails and gloves. Another reason why you advised to wear strong boots, when wandering in Australia. The dangers are that in Auzzie summertime, male Funnel Webs wander to find a mate (males is smaller of this species, but, either planned by evolution or otherwise, they are more deadly than females, which is actually a rarity in spiders) and sometimes wander into homes and garages and swimming pools by mistake (because they like dark/moist places), where from there, they usually cause chaos. The good news is that is spider rarely kills, in fact there has no been a known fatality for 20 years. Why? Because the Anti-venom which was inducted in the 80's, is said to be extremely effective, thus the survival rate has shot up to near prefect. Dont be fooled though, survive you might, but having been bitten, you will still be rendered in complete agony at the bite location, extremely dizzy and confused, and also you muscles go into an involentary reactive spasm, meaning you will find it difficult to move after a few minutes. Want the Irony of all this? The Funnel Web spider's venom is totally harmless towards any other mammals other than Humans and Apes. Dogs/Cats/Rats, ect ect would suffer non of the dramatic effects that humans do when bitten, for some reason, the funnel webs toxic venom is only dangeous to Primates... The funnel web is one mean little bastard, not the kind of guy to take home to show your mother... | |

- Actually the Brazillian Wandering is the most toxic known spider in the world but the Funnel Web isn't far behind ^_^ - Still give it a wide birth
But the spider that gives the most human deaths is actually the Black Widow - Which is in your very home Auzzies xD I actually disagree, despite the fact ive never been to Oz yet, Ive done research on this kind of thing so i feel well informed. The most dangerous black widow is actually in America, the Australian species (Red Back Spiders) are not as deadly, but have the most frequent encounters. The seem to have a liking for lavatories, which is why they are often found under toilet seats waiting for unsuspecting victims with full bowls. This is why this spider is high profile, because it bites alot of people. However its venom isnt actually very deadly, alot of pain and irritation, but rarely does it cause everlasting damage. Funnel Web and Wandering Spider are very much a toss up, many people seem divided on which is most deadly. Alot of spiders seem to have a good idea of the difference between pray and otherwise, which is why when many spiders bite humans, they dont inject venom, because they know it isnt pray. The Wandering Spider is no exception, depite is venom being extremely toxic, it often delivers "dry" bites, because it knows that the human is not pray, so from its own point of view, theres no point injecting venom. Most of the time, it will simply deliver a relatively harmless (Although bloody painfull mind you!) dry bite, because it is simply a warning shot. The Funnel web is one of the only spiders that seems to ignore this trait of being able to distingush predator and prey, and for some reason, it sees fit to inject venom more readilly than other spiders. "Dry" bites from funnel webs, as opposed to the wandering spider and others, seem to far less common, as the spider often injects a "full load". The reasons why are unclear, but the Funnel web seems to have quarms defending itself to the max, even taking the unnecessary step of injecting venom, to a human who is useless to it. Dont get me wrong, the Wandering Spider is one mean son of a puppy, its huge, possibly 3-4 times bigger than the funnel web, and its extremely aggressive. Its bite will hurt to an unimaginable degree, and if it injects venom, your in trouble, but luckly, you have a good chance of a painfull, but harmless "dry" bite. The funnel web, you will rarely be so lucky. In fact its fangs are so huge and penatrate so deep, that it has to be prized from the bite location with force, because it clings on for dear life. The Sydney funnel web is definatley more dangeous, however the anti-venom is extremely successfull. The wandering spider's anti-venom has a lower success rate, which is why it is responsible for more deaths (particulary because medical technology in Rio, as opposted to Sydney, isnt quite at the same level...), however pound for pound, the funnel web wins the worlds most dangeous spider title.

| I've seen black widows in California. I don't know where else they are in the USA but I know they're in California. In some of the areas I've been to in California they have to have their yard and edges of their house sprayed regularly with some sort of insecticide to keep them at bay. I know they are always afraid young children might be bitten.

| Yes indeed the Redback, or 'Latrodectus hasselti' is the native Latrodectus to Oceania not including the New Zealand species. I wouldn't exactly say the neurotoxic bite is non too serious. Allthough not immediately fatal or bringing forth any morbidity they have caused deaths and like I said you want to avoid them. Smaller and painful creatures are most annoying in your wellington boot or under the toilet bowl like you said.
Actually my family relatives in Australia constantly tell me that the Redbacks are the chief problem for them. Funnel webs aren't as frequent as the small redbacks everywhere. My cousin was doing roof work inside the attic of the house, it was pitch black and as he climbed through the mess he felt the webs on his face. When someone finally passed him up a torch he turned it on to see an infestation of Redbacks all around him. Luckily he managed to get out without getting bitten. It's a Latrodecctism form of Neurotoxin, very unconvinient to be bitten with.
The funnel web like the redback or any other terratorial or protective spider will only attack if you disturb it and not vice versa. And actually Phoe Funnel Webs are quite capable of delivering dry bites and do so. There is actually a low percentage rate that if bitten you have been infected with its venom, around 15-20% chance of being poisoned. Otherwise you'll receive a dry bite.
So we are talking about the most dangerous now and not the most toxic? Ok. In which case I agree the Funnel Web is much more aggresive to humans, however dry bites are just as common as with other toxic arachnids.

| Haha you make me sound like Steve Urwin lol. Yeah sure there are plenty of nasties out there, but in reality they are few and far between, its not like snakes zoom into Tesco's and try and bite you on the arse I like Tim's idea, chasing all the hot auzzie skirt I'm actually sorta seein a lass atm, though its just a 'casual' thing, few drinks and then a fool around basically haha. But I'll probs miss her a bit cos shes pretty damn fine, and the best thing of all is she proper loves it! She far and away the horniest chick ive even been with, shes almost too much for me to handle, so im pretty damn buzzin! She rides me like Seabiscuit wahaha! (
