| I'm surprised you didn't add Morrowind to the poll options. I love that game too. It's very hard for me to compare these games, to be honest. Skyrim doesn't have a lot that Oblivion has and vice versa. The combat and radiant story in Skyrim is far more appealing than the hack and slash and copy-pasted environment in Oblivion, but the amount of customization and the feeling of endless character possibilities in Oblivion totally destroys the lacking amounts of personalization in Skyrim. Between the two, I like Oblivion more I suppose. I've played that since I was a kid. But Skyrim is awesome in its own right. To say Skyrim lacks the Elder Scrolls vibe is a bit critical. It has all the feelings and content of TES, just presented differently than before. I also don't think the text is exactly a something to criticize the game about, though I was surprised as well when I first saw it. When it comes to replay value though, which to me is a defining factor in a game, Oblivion definitely wins out. I can always find a way to do something differently, better, or worse in that game. Skyrim just seems like it goes one way or another. New longest post for me! xD Edit: Oh, also, It's TES IV: Oblivion, not VI. The sixth game (not counting the mmo) has yet to be released | |

| Personally, i never tried Morrowind, but i try out oblivion before i went to skyrim. Oblivion really did make it a RPG as unique as it can be, the problem was the difficulty at times was overwhelming, (vampirism inside a house u cant sleep in) I loved skyrim on how they made so many mods for it that made it even better, plus i couldn't resist the dragons | |

| I like Skyrim better, but they're both great. My biggest complaint about Oblivion is that to maximize your character's ability, you have to plan out your skills and practice them in an unnatural fashion. To be able to increase your three attributes by the maximum 5 points each time you level up, you have to choose your major skills in an unnatural way. In Oblivion, if I wanted to be a thief that's good with melee weapons and blocking, I could only choose either the stealth skills or the combat skills as my major skills if I wanted to maximize my attributes per level up; I could not choose all of them. The net effect is that you end up choosing 2-5 major skills that you actually want to use, and the rest are ones you know you WON'T use so that you can maximize all your attributes. I know a lot of people just ignore that level up system and get on average +2 to +4 per attribute each time they level up, but I like to maximize the potential of my characters, and Oblivion demanded that you plan it out because of the way the leveling system worked. In Skyrim, the leveling system is very straightforward since there are no attributes, which lets you work on only the things you feel like working on. The downside, of course, is that there's almost no diversity between character stats.
Both games are great, but overall, I have more fun playing Skyrim.

| Yes, I will agree that the leveling system in Skyrim is much more straight-forward. I was very angry when I got it and found that a) There was no Hand to Hand skill, thereby making the creation of Super Saiyan characters impossible, and b) YOU CAN'T GIVE YOUR CHARACTER BLUE HAIR | |

| I played Morrowind and Oblivion, but only watched gameplay videos of Skyrim. My least favorite part about RPGs was always the combat system, which was more about grinding over gameplay and skill. From what I seen it seems like Skyrim is changing that, and by that making it more engaging. | |

Yes, but my problem is that the PC version I have doesn't run more than like 20 fps ever, so I usually have to play on the Xbox if I wanna play seriously.
