I know I saw this, Maybe Rachel could tell us if such light-speed strafing without having force is that possible because it looks too impossible, I also thought he was using something. And even if it was possible, do you even enjoy the game when you beat each level under 60 seconds?

I think he used a glitch.
He strafed in a strange way wich crouch i think.

I thought i had no good hobbys besides computer engineering and being musician but this guy beats it.
I mean how long did it took 'em to study each level to make it as short as possible? XD

In speedruns you are allowed to use any glitch, game mechanic, etc, so this is a totally legit run on that part The only thing you are not allowed to use is "cheats" (Noclip, godmode, etc), since a speedrun is a display of skill and technical knowhow (Game mechanics, glitches, and so on) with the game you are speedrunning

This to me looks legit enough, and it is damn impressive

Video is nice, that is true, the guy must have good practice in speedrunning

And I always thought that speedrun is how to complete a level as fast as you can without using any 'external' help. Because only then I was considering it legit. Because only then it was true skill for me, when you didn't use any glitch or game mechanics abuse.

So yes the video is impressive but not legit (for me)

True even with glitches that is prob damn impressive. but I mean give me 2 days and I am pretty sure I can do that very thing with any glitches I can find.

External as in anything else except your own hands and skills, not glitches mechanics abuse etc ^^

Sure, but having watched quite a few speedruns during the years, and knowing some quite skilled speedrunners myself, which includes the current world record holder in both Crash Bandicoot any% and 100%, I'd say I know what I am talking about

Samura1man have not had the record for a few years as far as I know

The current holder of the world record in both any% and 100% is WHiPCPL, and yes, I do know him personally

Any% (This is quite recently. He had lost the any% record to some other guy which I cannot remember the name of, but have reclaimed his WR ^_^)

Apart of the speedruns being impressive, whats the point of it..? I thought games are meant to provide fun... (but maybe for this kind of ppl this is the fun but for 99,999% of other ppl maybe not)

The speedrun community is actually quite big. And yeah it's fun and a test of skill like any other type of game\competition.

first of all kam it's not 100% that they hold the records, they just hold records that are actually recorded.

and I don't even see how stuff like this is even worth appraisal. all it means is someone had nothing better to do for like 3 weeks except sit glued to a screen and practicing something non-stop of no importance to the community at all. to me it's kinda sad, not awesome.

it's like people idolizing an actor or a singer rather then the priest down the street or the charity worker that helps people get back on their feet. it's hyper.

Yes, he is from Denmark For you speedruns might seem silly, but for those who are into it, there is a lot of fun in both watching and performing it You would be suprised to find how many people enjoy speedruns

It obviously needs to be recorded in order to prove that you beat a record ? Otherwise one could just claim that one beat a game in two seconds using some super mystical glitch unknown to others xD

Speedrunning takes a lot of skill and time, and those who become good at it have spend a lot of time perfecting their techniques, mastering mechanics, and getting to know all tricks and glitches that can help them improve on their times in whichever game they might have chosen to speedrun It is an impressive display of skill, which have taken them a long time to build up ^_^

For you this might be "of no importance to the community", just like e.g. football is of no importance to me, but to those who are into speedrunning and its community, these record attempts is of great importance

I find speedruns impressive but on the same time I don't like it, because as you said, you have to spend weeks, maybe even months sitting behind computer. This in particular I wouldn't say it is useless to the community because it provides fun and great test of skills for the rest of that community. But do those guys actually have a life when spending 24/7 behind computer improving their times? This is what is really important to me.

I doubt they spend their whole time behind the computer, just practicing a speed run for a few hours a day can be enough. Also even if they do spend all their time behind the computer, it's their choice to do so. Just like people spend all day\evening playing games like WoW or whatever. Even if you don't understand why they do it, it's no reason to think so negatively of it.

But that's the actually point of it lol, if you spend hours of this each day you can do only a little with your actual life... so yeah I don't understand at all. Its apparently fun (that's why I don't think of it so pesimistic) but I don't understand it at all xD

That way of completing jk2 story mode it´s just sick lol

Takes me that long just to do the imperial code on the first mission xD

But seriously, no way he could kill those two shadowtroopers near the end with a single red strafe, they have at least 300hp.
