Subject: Leaves from the Vine - My tribute to Mako Thu 23 Jul 2015, 9:51 am
Since this forum somehow also grew to a platform for me where I release my feeble attempts at poetry, I'm posting this. Actually I wanted to post this topic yesterday, but I was too busy, so I couldn't. Yesterday (21. July) was the anniversary of Mako's death. Since I am a big fan of the Avatar-franchise (the Last Airbender, ya know), I expanded the lyrics of one of the songs the character Iroh sings. The song is often called "Leaves from the Vine". Iroh is voiced by Mako and my favourite character of the whole series. I wrote those lines quite a while ago, but I wanted to release them in memory of him.
This is the song I am expanding, Leaves from the Vine:
But I also took inspiration from this one, called Four Seasons:
Leaves from the vine growing so pale, like flaring, brumal dawns neath a misty veil.
Little soldier boy, are you alright? Strong soldier boy, you’ll be alright!
Leaves from the vine swaying so soft, like vernal, airy clouds waving up aloft.
Little soldier boy, where are you now? Keen soldier boy, arriving now.
Leaves from the vine swishing so faint, like placid, soothing drops during summer rain.
Little soldier boy, just take a rest! Staunch soldier boy, taking a rest.
Leaves from the vine falling so slow, like fragile, tiny shells drifting in the foam.
Little soldier boy, come marching home! Brave soldier boy comes marching home.
