I agree. I only have 3 anti-virus programs (Free of course), and I have yet to deal with any virus. Ad-Ware Avast! Malwarebyte's Anti-Malware And what Nick said about MAC being an overpriced Linux is my feelings actually. Which is why I will never in my life buy any Apple products.

| Coming from the guy with little to no computer know-how! Anyway, Norton is good, but I don't think there is a free version. And yes EVC should give you a virus, since you SHOULDN'T HAVE ONE! XDDDDDDDD Also good site for the ones that need a good balance of porn and the real thing (Or if you are lonely and need a "friend"), I suggest xhamster.com | |

You also don't get mod folders in your JK2 directory, your hardware costs roughly 50% more just because it has the Apple brand name, you can't play any DirectX games (which account for about 95% of games), you have poor 3rd party hardware compatibility, you can't legally install the Mac OS on non-Mac hardware because Apple is even worse than Microsoft when it comes to anti-competitiveness, and you have to become associated with the legions of computer illiterate Mac fans who believe in a Mac vs PC dichotomy, not realizing that Mac is really just absurdly overpriced Linux. pwned

| here's how I would get an Apple:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zLyCO91aP-o&feature=related
i just have no interest in Apple stuff. it's for newbs. the only thing OSX and linux have over microsoft is better file system, hfs and ext 4 respectively. well linux distros are free too, but you get what you pay for. wish microsoft would revamp NTFS. you pay 2 times as much, or more, for an apple machine with similar hardware as a windows based machine. i would make apple machines if they did not tie it to hardware.

| I've looked into hackintosh, but I've been doing things legit for awhile now and OS X isn't nearly enough of a reason for me to stop. But this: - wehr wrote:

So true. But for that to ever happen, Apple would have to tackle one of the main issues that causes me to prefer Windows: compatibility. As soon as Apple has to be compatible with everything the way Windows does, the "it just works" nature Macs are supposed to be known for would fall apart. I don't foresee Apple leaving its safety zone anytime soon; the profitable niche it's found in using almost exclusively in-house software is just too attractive as long as there are consumers willing to overpay for perceived higher quality. Also, the iCult advertising keeps the brand sexy. Allowing other companies to sell computers with an Apple OS would ruin this integral component of Apple's success.

| In the context of this thread, all I did was promote the postive experiance of my computer software, advertising for a perfectly valid reason. Whilst you Nick, and others have gone into competitive overdrive with the "Mac vs PC dichotomy". Focusing on the faults of Mac rather than the benefits of PC.

This is a benefit of Windows, one that it has over both Mac and Linux. This point was the majority of my post, expanded upon in further sentences. Also, it's not overdrive, it's quite casual. If facts sound like competition to you, it probably has something to do with your lack of research into the comparison.

| Do you know what the difference between computer hardware and an operating system is? If it costs $2000 for a MacBook, and $1000 for an Asus laptop with the same hardware specs, that means Apple's Mac OS X and/or simply the Apple brand name costs the consumer over $1000. Mac OS X and a white computer case are not worth $1000. I suspect that most people who do indeed purchase these products are misinformed about the true differences (or lack thereof) between Apple products and other companies' products. | |

| let's face it. steve jobs has quite a following going. it is indeed cult like and kerno, no offense, is a case in point. kern, apple stuff is perfectly fine for a certain niche of people. but the tech saavy will not likely buy into it. i mean we do buy our ipods, or what have you. as for our main desktops, uh, nevah!
agreed Nick, i'm well aware Apple does not delve into the mainstream because one of their monikers is stability. if they opened their os up to all the hardware out there it would be a big fail, at least in the beginning.
