| Ok so I thought I would keep the forum a little bit more alive and post random topics like this to start conversations soo yeah, My favourite things about the JK games are probably the fact you have to use your brain in solving stuff in single player compared to running around shooting people, and the awesome saber dueling, what's yours ? | |

| Running around and shooting in single player followed by the spamming of quick load and quick save if I make it over to the other side of the room before my internal organs do. | |

| for me it was the animation of the saber moves. there was no other star wars game at that time where the saber looked so great ^^ | |

| @Axel LOL yeah when I was a child and I played jk2 SP for some reason I didn't quicksave so much, now I'm like F12 F12 F12 F12 F12 all through the game lol @Xaso yeah totally agree, best game for saber dueling | |

| First real star wars game where it was properly focused on using lightsabers and the force, and like Xaso said, the animations were (and still are) pretty impressive | |

What about games like Rune, Mount & Blade, Chivalry, and Severance? Didn't play them but I've been told there just as advanced (in terms of melee combat). For Single Player, I liked a lot of things about it; I also like that the game isn't linear, and you have to think of solutions that aren't always straight forward nor too difficult. Unlike some games (Force Unleashed) the melee combat and force is very dynamic.

Mount & Blade: Warband is an outstanding game, and the combat is superb: activate the first-person view and you really feel the thrill. However, what you can do is thrust, swing left, right and overhead, plus blocking and kicking, that's it. That limits the dynamics a bit, not to mention that the pace is slower (game's realistic to an extent). You do have different weapons (swords, falchions, maces, polearms, crossbows, bows, throwing weapons) and horses (couching lances), though. Definitely a contender for the best melee system. JK2 proved to be dynamic, replayable, proved to have a significant number of mechanics to allow for different gameplay (styles, dragging, etc), and the multiplayer component mixed with clan social blows everything out of the water. I saw a friend play Rune, but haven't touched it either. There's also the Souls series (Demon Souls/Dark Souls), which stresses challenge and skill. These, too, have an immensely enjoyable melee system.

| i loved the story of jk2 but the story of jka was average. especially because of the eligable missions: they didnt really support the ongoing of the story. therefore the ability to choose was a good idea itself which i liked alot | |

| the first JK game I played was JKA which got me into the series because
1.LIGHTSABER FANCY PANCY MOVES 2.CHOOSING light or dark side
and what got me into JK2 was learning more about kyle that was about it lol and the fact that my other comp practically blew up and was unable to use jka disc for some reason
so really what it came down to was expanding the universe that is star wars

| aang, you didnt get what i mean. ofc theres a story in jka. but look: the story of jk2 is straight and determined on the one hand: but its thrilling and with a spectacular climax
in jka you have a story, yes, but many of the missions are not getting forward the story... and thus the story isnt that catching and thrilling like in jk2

It's great. As for JK series, everything that's said is true. I just love the feeling of control over all the traditional Star Wars powers. It's what most SW games should strive for.

| my favorite thing is the free game play and open world in mp. You build your own personnality in your way of fighting, so much that even without your name a good jk player can recognize you.
And about that open world, the maps actually just take place in bases or buildings traveled in the sp, and that has always disapointed me. I've always dreamed of a hugh map like in any mmorpg ( tor, wow, lotro ), in which a real history could take place in jk mp, with clans having their own cities / bases, wars, gangs, etc etc.

| Well, Aju, I wonder if you can set a trigger on the map that sets a certain spawnpoint as your current one. That would be a start for bases. | |
